Spark Plug Maintenance

Hello and welcome to this page in our world of fragrances.

What kind of maintenance can we do on our candle to extend its burn time and keep it clean and in good working order?

If the candle already comes with a lid, use it whenever you want to blow it out. This will allow you to extinguish it quickly and contain the smoke it produces.

If, while the candle is burning, you notice that pieces of wick are settling in the melted part of the candle, it means that when you last extinguished it, you didn’t trim the burnt wick. Trimming the remaining burnt wick once the candle has been extinguished and has cooled will prevent those annoying and unsightly black deposits from forming in your candle.

If, when lightingthe candlefor the first time, you didn’t follow the tips in our post“Lighting the Candle for the First Time”and the much-hated “cone” formed, you can cover your candle with aluminum foil—just around the edges of the container—leaving a hole large enough for the candle to burn. This will help trap more heat inside the container and also melt the wax left on the edges.
